The pursuit of happiness

He runs. Because he is a salesman. He earns very less. He runs fast. Because he has some responsibilites. He is a married guy and blessed with a baby boy. He runs very fast. Because he has a dream to achieve something. Nobody supports him but he believes in his dreams. He keeps running. Becasue his wife deserts him. He takes responsibility of his son. He just keeps running in pursuit of happiness. And, one day he achieves the happiness.

A nice movie. But I took three days to watch it. Why? Possibly, lack of patience. But, see the movie itself gives the message 'Have patience and keep running. One day, you will achieve your goal'.

A blissful weekend!

I know I am blessed. And, it is proved this weekend also as usual. Many good things happened to me. I felt all the power was within me. Nobody else supported me. It's me and my belief which won at last. I was shocked but contented.

Besides, I had a narrow escape. But by the grace of God, everything is fine now.

Are we happier than our forefathers?

Well, I believe that we are not happier than our forefathers.

As we all know that change is the law of nature. And, one has to move ahead with an acceptance to these changes. So what are the changes which we see today if we compare our time with our forefathers' time. These changes are like: Advance education system, state-of-the-art medical technology, more business opportunity, improved agricultural techniques, hi-tech infrastructure, modern electronic equipments, better facilities such as hotels, transport, entertainment etc.

You'll be surprised, on one hand, I am against the motion that we are not happier than our forefathers, but on the other hand, I am counting the positive changes which we can see easily today but our ancestors didn't predict even. Yes, it is very much true that these changes are positive but it is also a hard fact that we have changed them into negative. Actually we are using these facilities but we don't know how to enjoy it.

First of all, we talk about modern agricultural techniques. Everybody knows that there is less physical labour due to modern machines, fertilizers, seeds, improved irrigation facilities but then why we consume packed foods, artificials vegetables and fruits, here artificial vegetables and fruits means which are made artifically with the help of vaccine only. Everyday we watch on TV how milk and other dairy products are adulterated with many chemicals and hair shampoos. Think for a moment, this is our basic diet and if we intake it regularly then in long-period what will happen? What's the use of those modern agricultual techniques if we are not getting fresh fruits and vegetables? We will suffer with horrible diseases in future. Yeah! I accept, now we have better medical facilities to control the diseases still the degree of increasing disease is much more than the medical facilities. State-of-the-art medical facilities but with long queues of patients having new types of diseases. Isn't it ironical?

Let's take another example of electrical and electronic equipments like washing machine, microwave, coolers, air-conditioners. These machines definitely give us comfort but don't you realize these give us instant comfort only as we can't ignore its long-term and side effects. And, we become so habitual of using these machines that we often forget to do pysical exercises. Then we go gym to do exercises. See again, there is irony, first we use machines to remove those physical exercises and giving us comfort then after some time we take pain and do the same physical exercise at the gym. Same is with transport system. Due to more business opportunites and empolyment, we have less time so we use advance trasnport system by purchasing own car, helicopters which in turn cause traffic jams, air pollution, sound pollution etc. And, do you know who suffers? We. If we observe minuetly, it can be said that more facilities create more problem. It is with everything whether it is entertainment business or education system.

Anyways, list is long but here I'd like to express my views that yes we have better things than our forefathers but we are not happier than them. Today we are not physically fit. We are always busy. Everybody is rushing towards his/her goals. Still no body is happy. Everybody is having a plasitc smile. Where is the real happiness? Think for a minute how much time we spend on mobiles, internet, TV but we have no time for our loved ones. Earlier, people were satisfied however they had limited sources of income, entertainment and comfort. They had time for their loved ones. There was peace which we can't find now-a-days. Today we have everything still we crave for small-small things. Don't we???

Is punishment necessary?

Kept myself deprived of my favourite activity of the day deliberately. :-( :-( :-(

But, why?

While I was doing something wrong, I knew that I would suffer later still I did that...so I deserved to be punished like this only. This time, no acceptance of any kind of excuses. Sorry!

But yes! celebrated Lohri with friends in the evening. Music, dance, masti with lots of popcorn, mungfali and rewari. Umm...that's was full of fun and enjoyment!

Hostel Life

Hostel Life, a word synonymous with Freedom! And, if the freedom is used in positive direction, you can be on the top of the world but if it is used in negative direction then no one can save you. Mind it! :)

Yes! it's very much true. That's why some people have a bad impression about hostellers in their mind. It can depend on their own personal experiences also but it is hundred percent correct that 'Hostel Life' has its own positive and negative points. Poisitive points like independence in taking decisions, adjustments with the things as well as with people who are from different cultures. You learn a lot of things which you cannot learn while staying at home. Here, I mean that in hostels, chances are more to face the situations which you cannot imagine while staying with your family. Willingly or unwillingly, small or big but you have to take decisions for yourself. And, it is a fact that you are not always right. Decision can be right or wrong. But as a decision maker, you always grow emotionally or physiologically.

Besides, you have more time to think about yourself. You actually explore yourself. For instance, how to be happy when your mood is off becasue no one is there to make you laugh or pamper. How to manage strange situations like you are sharing a room with three other roommates. And, everybody has her own issues. Somebody has to study late night while somebody has to go to sleep early because of getting up early in the morning and rushing for office. At the same moment one roommate is in 'party' mood while the other one is crying becasue of big fight with boyfriend. Now manage yourself. These are just small-small things which matter a lot.

Now let's talk about the other side of the coin. Negative points of Hostel Life. You become careless becasue of lack of responsibility directly. You don't need to cook the food, clean the house or many other activites which you are supposed to do at home. In hostels, you do whatever you want to do. You behave like you are footloose. You watch movies, roam with friends and indulge in some bad activities, here you know what I mean. (don't want to mention as everybody has his/her own definitions of good and bad) You just do what you want to do becasue no one is there to point out you.

Here, I would like to suggest you something if you really accept these negatives and want to turn them into positives. Do make good friends. Friends are your lifetime assets. You not only enjoy good times but also share critical situations with friends. Sometimes you divert from your goal for which you are far away from your home and staying in a hostel. In such sitation you need friends to discuss or share your stuff. And, it will always be better if your family treats you like your friend and your friends treat you like your family. So be a good friend and make good friends to enjoy hostel life in real sense!

A small change

Change is the law of nature. But sometimes you need a small change to spice up your monotonous life. For instance, today I changed my office route deliberately just for a change. it was a stupid thought but I did that. And, I really felt newness in my routine. New roads, new faces and new styles of doing the same old things actually gave me a new energy for the whole day. I thank by gifting a rose to myself in the evening. This was a change in itself. ha ha ha
